REVIEWS & BLURBS

Great review from Cult of Thy Demons be Scribbling

"From the trailer the audience is introduced to a tale that appears somewhat complex in scope, a whiff of a secret project that would be better left buried and an ominous presence that has an ancient aura. However, what is more obvious is the quality of the ‘teaser’ based on a zero budget the acting appears better than average (especially within indie parameters) and the story hints at better things with professional (be it in the soundtrack or image) touches leaving the viewer itching for more, fleshing out an offered intriguing premise both in scope and detail."

The Short Film

"The Gatekeepers short encompasses the trailer and adds to its overall allure by including additional characters, curious details of a nefarious activity (better left buried and hoped to be laid to rest) and more of the ominous ax wielding, shrouded, ‘presence’ seen in the trailer.
Adding to the professionalism found in the trailer this short ups the ante hinting at a classical style that lingers not on grisly carnage but on the resulting detritus in the area surrounding leaving many of the grisly details to the imagination of the audience themselves. Although with that in mind there is also a lingering shot of the ‘dark one’ chomping down on what I can only assume is a heart (a fresh one at that) still dripping crimson fluids this lends a sacrificial/ancient aura to the story an element personally I wish to see embellished upon and can assume will be once a full length comes barreling towards fruition. This short also boasts various aspects of the Gatekeepers story and in doing so introduces vivid characters within all of which I can only imagine will converge towards the tale’s finale, a fantastic way to get an audience hooked and salivating for the main event.
The short also does what many doesn’t by supplying a detailed cast list and numerous other details regarding the production.
Do yourself and the horror realm a favor by supporting this project. I have high hopes it will exceed expectations and only lead to more successful projects in the future."

Justin Kincaid of Film Fervor did a podcast with me, the following are exerpts from his website about Gatekeepers.

"Joey Sorrentino of My Little Rascal Productions is a very exciting person to watch out for in the future. He has the right attitude for indie film, with wanting to put his project and his cast and crew’s name up on the big screen in theaters to enjoy the overall film experience.  This is one of those stories that you just have to love, if you’re into the bootstrapped indie films. Joey and his wife reached out to actors and crew on Craigslist and got a remarkable amount of people who, surprisingly, not only could act but also were highly motivated to see the film come to life. Even their trailer is a story of simple perseverance and audacity, as they had no real experience or knowledge on how to do any of the things they needed to do.   The best part about all of this is that they had the drive and motivation to make the film, the courage to step out into the light and to broadcast their intention to the world that they were going to make this production come to life. It just goes to show you what a little courage and a whole lot of ambition can do for you. Check out the trailer and, of course, support them!"
